LVSSN Ball Mill

LVSSN Ball Mill

A ball mill consists of a rotating cylindrical shell partially filled with grinding media (steel, ceramic or rubber balls). As the shell rotates, the balls are lifted and then fall onto the material, breaking up the particles through impact and friction.
. In continuous operation, the feed enters at one end through a cone and is discharged at the other end, ensuring uninterrupted processing.
. The critical speed (i.e. the speed at which the balls are pressed against the shell wall) determines the grinding efficiency; the mill is operated below this speed to maximize the impact force.
Main types
1. Ordinary ball mill
Suitable for coarse and fine grinding of cement, slag and chemical raw materials; simple structure and low investment cost
2. Planetary ball mill
Small laboratory equipment, which generates high dynamic energy through planetary orbital motion and can grind materials to nanometer level
3. High-energy ball mill
Increases the speed and impact energy on the basis of normal speed ball milling, suitable for preparing active powders and alloys; can be used for mechanical alloying
Key application scenarios
Mining and metallurgy: grinding metal ores and tailings to achieve fine classification and pre-treatment of mineral processing
Cement industry: grinding clinker and gypsum to 3500–4500cm²/g Blaine standard to ensure concrete performance
Chemical and pharmaceutical: producing pigments, additives and powders to ensure particle uniformity and chemical activity
Material research: mechanical alloying, preparation of new materials and production of nano powders
EPC Grinding station integration
Under the EPC model, the ball mill is often matched with a jaw crusher, a vertical roller mill or a classifier to achieve a closed-loop cycle of coarse crushing → pre-grinding → fine grinding. Modular design simplifies on-site installation, and turnkey projects can be delivered within 60 days.
. PLC/DCS control system can monitor grinding pressure, temperature and vibration, and support remote diagnosis and predictive maintenance.
Core advantages
Energy-saving and efficient: Compared with traditional grinding systems, ball mills have lower energy consumption and support both wet and dry grinding modes.
Flexible adjustment: The production capacity and finished product fineness can be quickly adjusted by changing the ball diameter, ball loading and speed.
Low cost: Relatively low installation and operation costs, simple maintenance, and fast replacement of wearing parts.
Wide application: It can handle raw materials of various hardness and chemical properties, from ores to ceramics and biomaterials.
Selection points
Capacity requirements: Select a ball mill with a suitable diameter and length ratio according to the designed daily output (t/h) and target fineness.
Material characteristics: Consider hardness, moisture content and corrosiveness, and select suitable linings and grinding media.
Process configuration: Decide whether to use closed-loop airflow classification or connect in series with a vertical roller mill to optimize overall energy consumption and output.
Automation level: Evaluate PLC/SCADA integration requirements to achieve intelligent monitoring and predictive maintenance.
